Day 10

8 x 400m runs and the worst happened - I tweaked my hamstring - decided to get out after 4km. First time I can remember properly giving up but I'm hoping it will be enough to allow me to run on Saturday ....

Day 9

X-Train for 30 minutes - ate healthily all day but had a KFC for dinner - I'd be better rolling than running

Day 8

A 40 minute jog - I hate the mirror in front of me - I look awful and feel awful. Knees hurt all day

Day 7

Rest day - nothing to see here

Day 6

Today was a 7 mile run

My last big run had my hamstring twinging at 2 miles so I was very nervous

At 5 miles I could feel something going on but made it to the end

I really have to start losing the pound - way over weight at the moment - just as well it's not a time famed for eating and drinking - oh ...

Day 5

Xmas do last night and as predicted - nothing happening today

Day 4

This was meant to be a jog and x-trainer tomorrow but as it was the work's Xmas do tonight I knew tomorrow would be a write off so went for the x-trainer option

Very dull but certainly got the heart rate up

Day 3

This was the big hamstring test 6 * 400m @ 11.4km/h. It was also a test for vanity as I was wearing the compression socks

Passed both well - onwards and upwards

Day 2

Today was a 30 minute x-train and although yesterday I listened to Frank Skinner's podcast, today I went back to music

Easy enough although it being dad's birthday I ate and drank way too much tonight - I'll regret that in the morning

Day 1

So here I am again - in by far the worst condition I've ever started training in

With a constant back / hip / leg pain and carrying an extra stone (13st) I got up early to stretch and then on to the gym for a 40 minute jog

I'd irritated my hamstring the last 2 runs I'd had but luckily got through this unscathed - just wish I wasn't so tired
